Overview

The mission of the Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) is to build and sustain faculty vitality in medical schools and teaching hospitals. The GFA does this by supporting faculty affairs deans and administrators in their development and implementation of institutional policies and professional development activities that advance the academic missions of teaching, research, and clinical care. GFA member portfolios include: appointment, promotion and tenure oversight, faculty rewards and recognition, leadership and career development programs, mentoring programs, faculty recruitment, retention and diversity initiatives.

Program

The Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) invites you to and your colleagues to the 2008 Faculty Affairs Professional Development Conference: Celebrating Faculty Vitality and Diversity. Conference highlights include:

  • An orientation and luncheon for new faculty affairs leaders;
  • Plenary sessions covering faculty vitality, faculty satisfaction, and multiculturalism;
  • Poster receptions highlighting wellness programs, value-based policies and talent management strategies; and
  • Opportunities to meet and network with over 100 faculty affairs leaders.

Professional Development Conference Goals

  • Provide outstanding professional development in support of the Group on Faculty Affairs members
  • Provide cross section of best practices in faculty affairs
  • Enhance faculty vitality and diversity

  • Learn new practical strategies for implementing program at home institutions
