The primary mission of the GFA
is to build and sustain faculty vitality in academic medical institutions.
Faculty affairs deans and administrators who make up the GFA strive
to advance the academic missions of teaching, research, and clinical
care in medical schools and teaching hospitals by developing and
implementing policies, programs, and professional development activities
that support faculty.

For Members
Listserve
A GFA-sponsored e-mail discussion group facilitates communication
among medical school faculty, administrators, and staff with
responsibility for faculty affairs policies and faculty development
issues. Colleagues can exchange ideas, post information and
questions, and seek solutions using this electronic resource.
The listserve, formerly known as the FACAFFS,
is undergoing renovation and will be back in operation
by October 2009.
FAMOUS
GFA members have access to Faculty Roster reports
via FAMOUS (Faculty Administrative Management Online User System). AAMC Login and active GFA member status is required.
FAMOUS is a Web-based report writing tool that enables users
to view aggregate reports on medical school faculty members
and chairs, using data from the AAMC Faculty
Roster. There are many institution-specific and national
reports that can be generated, such as retention reports,
promotion reports, alumni reports, department reports, rank
reports, demographic reports, and educational reports.
