ERAS PDWS Training

ERAS Instructor-based PDWS Training

Each year ERAS offers regional classroom training sessions for the Program Director's Workstation (PDWS) software, beginning in July. ERAS instructor-based Program Director's Workstation (PDWS) training is a hands-on, step-by-step, half-day training session designed for all residency and fellowship program staff responsible for operating the PDWS.

We recommend only two (2) individuals from a program register for each regional classroom session, as each training session will be limited to the first 15-18 individuals, depending on the training location. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please confirm your registration with the AAMC Meetings Registrar prior to booking nonrefundable flights.

Who should attend the regional PDWS training?

The regional PDWS training sessions are designed for any program staff responsible for operating the Program Director's Workstation (PDWS) software. All residency and fellowship program staff new to ERAS are encouraged to attend the regional classroom training. These instructor based step-by-step sessions will not be conducted on an advanced level.

The ERAS 2011 training schedule will be available in May 2010. For training content information, contact Stephen Callear, ERAS Administrative Associate at scallear@aamc.org.

ERAS Web-based PDWS Training (Seasoned Users Only)

ERAS will offer seven (7) Web-based training sessions for seasoned users of the ERAS PDWS software. Only seasoned users should register for the Web-based training sessions. Seasoned PDWS users are users who:

  • have used the PDWS for at least one recruitment cycle;
  • have utilized PDWS features like filter/sorts (in addition to downloading/printing applications);
  • and wish to get better efficiency and production from using the PDWS to process applications received.

Using Microsoft® Live Meeting®, ERAS will host an hour and a half long session focusing on PDWS enhancements, features designed to help users further streamline the recruitment process and make the most of available PDWS tools. In addition, registered participants will be contacted prior to the training session to offer program specific topics to be covered during the session.

The sessions will be limited to 25 callers who will receive a special e-mail invitation. The invitation recipient can view the training from their own workspace or in a conference room where they can invite other staff to join them, thereby expanding learning opportunities for others in their program or institution.

The ERAS 2011 training schedule will be available in May 2010. For training content information, contact Stephen Callear, ERAS Administrative Associate at scallear@aamc.org.

ERAS 2010 PDWebRevue (PDWR)

The PDWebRevue is our first step toward enabling program users to access applications remotely via the Web. Like the Home Copy tool, program staff will have the ability to review application materials; but will not edit or make any changes online. The goal of this first iteration of the PDWebRevue is to provide basic PDWS functionality to users who need to work away from the office. Instructions for using the PDWebRevue are included in the PDWS User Guide. You may also contact the HelpDesk for assistance with setting up your first couple of users.
