VSAS for Host Institutions
New Host Institutions Accepting VSAS Applications in 2010!
In addition to more U.S. AAMC member schools joining VSAS as host
institutions in 2010, VSAS has expanded availability to members
of the AAMC's Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
through a pilot program this year.
The Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) is an AAMC application
designed to streamline the application process for senior "away"
electives at U.S. medical schools and independent academic medical
centers that are members of the Council
of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH). This service
requires students to submit just one application for all institutions,
effectively reducing paperwork, miscommunication and time for students
and institution staff. It was created at the request of two
GSA committees: Committee
on Student Records (COSR) and Committee
on Student Affairs (COSA).
When can I use VSAS?
After launching in April 2008, VSAS remains open indefinitely.
If you are not a VSAS user, your institution's Primary Contact must
add you as one. Once added, you will receive the "VSAS: New User
Instructions" email which will explain how to access the service.
Is my Institution a Host Institution?
The following medical schools and teaching hospitals are participating
as VSAS host institutions during the 2010-2011 academic year. They
will be receiving and processing visiting student applications through
VSAS.
