New Host Institutions are Invited to Join VSAS in 2010!
VSAS is an AAMC application designed to make it easier for medical
students to apply for senior electives at U.S. LCME medical schools
and independent academic medical centers. This service requires
students to submit just one application for all institutions, effectively
reducing paperwork, miscommunication, and time for students and
staff.
Who may use VSAS?
In addition to inviting more U.S. AAMC member schools to join VSAS
as host institutions for 2010, VSAS is expanding availability to
members of the AAMC's Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems
(COTH) through a
pilot program next year. Information,
benefits and instructions on joining are now available.
In 2009, 64 U.S. LCME medical schools are using VSAS to accept
elective applications while all other U.S. schools continue to use
their own application system. Any student enrolled at a U.S. LCME
medical school applying to these VSAS
host institutions may use VSAS.
Schools, whose students apply through VSAS, will use VSAS to support
these students' applications.
Canadian, International and Osteopathic Students
VSAS is not yet available for international, osteopathic, or students
enrolled at Canadian medical schools to use. Please use the Extramural
Electives Compendium (EEC) for visiting student application
information.
