Allyson Y. Schwartz (D-PA)
U.S. Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz is serving in her
third term representing Pennsylvania's 13th congressional
district. The 13th district includes both the close-knit neighborhoods
of Northeast Philadelphia, as well as the first ring of suburbs
of Montgomery County. Congresswoman's Schwartz's long career
in the health care and her membership on the Ways and Means
Committee position her as one of Congress's strongest and
most vocal advocates for academic medicine institutions in
southeastern Pennsylvania and around the country. In particular
she has championed the expansion of Medicare-funded graduate
medical education positions, new loan repayment programs for
medical professionals, and fair and robust payments to our
nation's safety net hospitals. She is the sponsor of legislation, H.R.
3664, to provide new flexibility and incentives for academic
medical centers to lead delivery system innovation and widespread
reform. Her other health policy priorities include strengthening
the primary care workforce, making preventive care more accessible,
enacting common-sense insurance market reforms, supporting
health research, and ensuring that all Americans have access
to high-quality, affordable health coverage.
