The AAMC's full-time staff is based in Washington, D.C., and is divided into several offices and divisions, from member services to governmental relations to biomedical, Information Technology and health sciences research.
Why intern at the AAMC?
- Internships are paid at competitive hourly rates.
- Full-time (35-hour week) and a limited number of part-time opportunities will be available. Most of our interns work during the summer months.
- Learn about areas of interest to you, such as public health, research, data analysis, medical education, constituent support/relations, communications, information technology, administration, governmental relations, and more.
- Gain valuable experience. Work on projects both independently and as part of a team in a friendly, collegial environment.
- Some past interns have even gone on to gain full-time employment!
What are the qualifications?
- Applicants must be currently enrolled part-time or full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Students from all class years will be considered, with first preference given to rising seniors and juniors.
- An interest in nonprofit association careers and/or issues related to public health is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity and comfort with conducting Internet research.
- Capable of producing clearly written documents that are meaningful to and appropriate for a variety of audiences.
- Coursework or experience with research methodologies, design, and analysis may be required for research-oriented positions.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership skills, professionalism, maturity, responsibility, and self-motivation.
- Excellent reasoning ability.
