    AAMC Holds Exhibit at 2023 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Conference

    The AAMC sponsored an exhibit booth at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s (CHCI) 2023 Leadership Conference on Sept. 19 and 20. The exhibit highlighted the Hispanic Centers of Excellence by the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Medicine, represented by Melinda Monge, and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, represented by América Facundo and Dotma Adams ; the Health Resources and Services Administration Title VII and VIII programs; and the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP). The booth highlighted the AAMC’s legislative priorities to advance health care workforce diversity and reiterated the importance of investing in pathway programs to achieve this goal.

    The CHCI conference focused on social and economic issues impacting the Latino community and highlighted the various contributions Latinos have made throughout U.S. history. Speakers at the conference included Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.) and various caucus members, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, and Vice President Kamala Harris.
