As part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's (CBCF) 53rd Annual Legislative Conference, the AAMC joined member institution Howard University College of Medicine to participate in the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Spouses community breakfast and health fair on Sept. 12. Founded by the CBC Spouses, the event is a collaboration between the CBCF and local transitional centers aimed at supporting individuals who are unhoused and low-income in Washington, D.C.

Howard and the AAMC shared a booth where physicians offered general preventive services, such as cholesterol screening and blood pressure monitoring. The college of medicine’s mobile health van also provided attendees with HIV and STD testing, along with educational materials. The AAMC donated 300 hygiene kits containing items like toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, soap, hand sanitizer, and tissues, which were distributed to the attendees.
