The AAMC joined 28 organizations in a May 16 letter of support for increased Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program (PDF) funding in fiscal year (FY) 2025. The letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) and Ranking Member Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and House Appropriations Committee Chair Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) and Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn) requested $758 million in FY 2025 funding for the CHGME program. The program is critical to training pediatricians and pediatric specialists who care for the nation’s children. The AAMC supports the funding request as part of its funding recommendations for discretionary programs in FY 2025 [refer to Washington Highlights, July 14, 2023].
