President Joe Biden issued a statement on Oct. 15 announcing the start of Medicare Open Enrollment. The statement highlighted the president’s commitment to strengthening the Medicare program and acknowledged the national insurance program as a critical lifeline for millions of seniors. Biden touted his administration’s efforts to lower prescription drug costs, including capping Part D out-of-pocket cost and providing free vaccines and $35 insulin, as well as by expanding the Extra Help program, which helps seniors afford premiums and cost-sharing.
