Washington, DC, July 6, 2022 - The Alliance of Academic Health Centers International (AAHCI) is pleased to announce a new host of its European Regional Office. As of July 1, 2022, the University of Zurich, Faculty of Medicine will assume hosting and leadership responsibilities. Maastricht University was the previous AAHCI European Regional Office host until June 2020.
“AAHCI looks forward to working in close partnership with the European Regional Office and the Regional Ambassadors, Prof. Frank Rühli, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich, and Prof. Luciano Saso, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine at the Sapienza University of Rome,” said AAHCI Executive Director Steven L. Kanter, MD.
“It is a true privilege for me to lead the AAHCI European Regional office with Prof. Saso. Promoting the core values of academia through international collaboration is of utmost importance to society, particularly during these challenging times,” said Prof. Rühli. “It is a great privilege for me to assume the role of ambassador of the AAHCI European Regional office and work with Prof. Rühli at the Faculty of the Medicine of the University of Zürich. I am looking forward to facilitating new collaborations and supporting AAHCI members in Europe and around the globe,” said Saso.
“With their guidance, I am confident that the European Regional Office will continue its tradition of excellent work that supports and underscores the outstanding contributions of academic health centers in the region and globally,” said Kanter.
The opening of this regional office, along with the continued work of all AAHCI Regional Offices, is central to AAHCI and provides:
- Customized region-specific initiatives and tailored programs
- Facilitated regional networking opportunities, educational programs, exchange of best practices, data collection and analysis, and community/regional relationships; and
- A deeper understanding of the critical value of academic health centers for governments, industry, and the public.
AAHCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of the AAMC and comprises an international constituency.
