What the Administration and NIH Leadership are Saying About Sequestration

• The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Sept. 14 released a report estimating the cuts that will occur as a result of sequestration. OMB estimates NIH will be subject to an 8.2 percent cut or $2.518 billion.
  
  
• Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D. discusses sequestration in his testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health on June 21, 2012, and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies on March 28, 2012.
  
  
• National Cancer Institute (NCI) Director Harold Varmus, M.D. discussed funding woes and sequestration at a Sept. 25 National Press Club Event.
