Medical School Accreditation

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the reliable authority for the accreditation of medical education programs leading to the MD degree. The LCME is sponsored by the AAMC and the American Medical Association, though it has final authority for the adoption of new or revised accreditation standards or policies. It operates independently in conducting evaluations of and making decisions about the accreditation status of medical education programs. More About the LCME
