Figure 10 illustrates the amount of premedical education debt by race/ethnicity among 2018-2019 medical school matriculants. Across racial/ethnic groups, most had no premedical education debt; however, significant percentages of matriculants from some groups had $25,000 or more in such debt, including Black or African American matriculants (40.5%), American Indian or Alaska Native matriculants (30.5%), Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander matriculants (26.0%), and Hispanic, Latino, or of Spanish Origin matriculants (24.0%).
