The AAMC on July 5 submitted comments to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on updates to the requirements for consortium/subaward agreements on NIH-funded grants. The revision to the NIH Grants Policy Statement was issued in response to reports from federal oversight bodies recommending that the agency improve monitoring of awards involving foreign subrecipients.

In its letter, the AAMC expressed support for NIH efforts to improve oversight of grant recipients but urged the agency to employ a risk-based framework for any policy changes and minimize any undue regulatory burden.
