    Contacts

    Ally Perleoni, Director, Government Relations

The AAMC joined the Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) coalition, a group of key stakeholders working to urge Congress to protect patient access to telehealth. Other members of the coalition include the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, the American Telemedicine Association, and the AARP.

The coalition focuses on educating Congress and the public on the importance of telehealth in improving patient access to care. Specifically, TAFA is utilizing a public affairs strategy and coordinating messages that demonstrate the value of telehealth, highlight increased patient demand, and amplify bipartisan support in Congress. TAFA has supported the extension of all telehealth waivers related to the COVID-19 public health emergency and is bolstering congressional efforts as well.

The AAMC has supported efforts to extend the telehealth waivers beyond the public health emergency [refer to Washington Highlights, Jan. 28].
