    AAMC Participates in CBCF Panel on Black Physician Workforce

    On Sept. 20, Len Marquez, senior director of government relations and legislative advocacy at the AAMC, participated in a panel discussion at the 52nd Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference (CBCF ALC) [refer to related story]. Sponsored by the National Medical Association, the panel, “Increasing the Black Physician Workforce,” focused on the importance of health care workforce diversity in improving health outcomes.

    Marquez detailed AAMC’s efforts to advance policies aimed at growing and diversifying the health care workforce, including: increasing Medicare support for graduate medical education, establishing new scholarship programs for under-represented communities, and continued investment in Health Resource and Services Administration Title VII and VIII workforce development programs.
