The AAMC joined over 120 provider groups in a Sept. 10 letter to congressional leadership (PDF) urging action to mitigate upcoming cuts to the Physician Fee Schedule (PFS). As a result of the proposed calendar year 2025 PFS, a 2.8% cut to physician payments could be slated to take place at the end of the year [refer to Washington Highlights, July 12]. The letter urges Congress to not only mitigate this cut to ensure patient access to care, but to also work on a permanent solution to the PFS to avoid consistent, yearly proposed cuts that must be fixed by Congress.
Congress must act by Dec. 31 to avoid the cuts.
