House Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) announced on Aug. 22 that Rep. Michael Burgess, MD, (R-Texas) would be leading a health care task force, comprised of five other Republicans, focused on reducing health care spending, modernizing the health care system, increasing patient access to care, and fueling innovation. On Aug. 25, the task force released a request for information (RFI) to solicit feedback from a broad array of invested parties on reducing the costs of health care and improving outcomes. Responses to the RFI are due by Oct. 15.
