The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) issued its June 2024 Report to Congress on Medicaid and CHIP, which includes chapters on four topics:

    • Recommendations on transparency in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) financing.

    • Improving coordination of care for beneficiaries dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, including through the optimization of state Medicaid agency contracts.

    • Reviewing participation rates and enrollment trends in Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs), as well as prior MACPAC recommendations on MSPs.

    • Demographic data collection in Medicaid and factors affecting data quality.

Related to Medicaid and CHIP financing, MACPAC recommended that Congress amend the Medicaid statute to require states to submit annual reports on Medicaid financing methods and the amounts of the nonfederal share of Medicaid spending received from individual providers. The commission recommended that Congress extend the same reporting requirements to CHIP.
