AAMC Research Administrative Staffing Survey

The 2024 AAMC Research Administrative Staffing Survey was designed to collect information to better support U.S. medical schools in their efforts to attract, recruit, and retain research administrative staff, particularly those in Pre-Award, Post-Award, and Research Administrator roles. These roles were further examined within three distinct administrative levels: non-manager, manager, and director. Survey questions inquired about a variety of topics including organizational placement, years of experience, median and average compensation, and core job responsibilities. The results of this survey and the following report can provide useful benchmarking data to medical school leaders in their efforts to engage these employees who are critical to facilitating the research mission of academic medicine.
