    This introductory module (PDF) provides an overview of validity and validation research and guides you through important practical and methodological considerations in order to determine if conducting a local AAMC PREview® exam validation study is right for you and your school. By the end of this module, you will understand which study design is appropriate for your school’s research questions and review a study checklist with steps and tips for conducting research.

    This module (PDF) describes the steps needed to evaluate the relationship between AAMC PREview® scores and other admissions data at your school. By the end of the module, you will understand how to review available admissions data and determine its usefulness. You’ll also know how to assess the unique value of PREview scores in the context of your school’s admissions process.

    This module (PDF) describes the steps needed to conduct a local validity study using existing course outcomes and data at your school and is designed to help you identify the appropriate medical student performance outcomes to understand the meaning or added value of AAMC PREview® scores at your school.

    “Evaluating AAMC PREview™ Scores With a Research-Only Performance Tool (ROPT)”

    This module (PDF) describes the steps needed to conduct a local validity study at your school using a tool provided by the AAMC to capture standardized ratings of performance for research, the AAMC Research-Only Performance Tool (ROPT). By the end of the module, you will be able to outline concrete steps to implement a research study at your school — including the logistics of carrying out a local validation study and determining the value of a ROPT to help understand the meaning or added value of AAMC PREview® scores at your school in comparison to other outcome measures.
